I am 38 weeks pregnant & every now & then, probably a couple of times a day I can hear a clicking noise coming from my belly. Anybody else had this or anyone know what it is?? It's been happening for the last week & a half, it's very strange.

I'm not worried about it at all, just really curious about what it is. My partner has heard it too so I know I'm not imagining it. It does seem to coincide with movement.

It's not the hiccups, the baby's had plenty of them & I can feel them. This clicking noise is something else & doesn't coincide with the baby having hiccups.

Suppose the little one could have hiccups! Best to ask your midwife, I reckon!

I have the answer to this. I am 20 weeks myself and have been suffering with SPD, this means that the ligaments in the pelvis are too relaxed and its very painful.
One of the first signs of this I had was a clicking, I could hear it, but nobody else could. Now at 20 weeks everytime I move I click and everyone can hear it.
What you can hear is your ligamants in your pelvis moving, you might find that as your pregnancy progresses it might get a bit painful.
For me it has been a nightmare, I have been signed off work since week 4, have to wear a back support, use crutches and will probably have to use a wheelchair later on.
Have a read of the website detailed below for more info.
Good Luck!

I had this with all four of my pregnancies, I've had several people hear it and it comes from the upper part of my stomach. It is not hiccups nor does it occur when the baby has hiccups, it's more frequent when she/he is moving and kicking around. I'd be interested in finding out more from a health care professional about what it is, and was happy to see that I'm not the only one who has experienced this strange phenomenon! Thank you for posting your question!

I have it! It's not every day but enough that I noticed and thought it was weird. Kind of like the sound my toe makes sometimes when I walk. I will be at 38 weeks in 2 more days. All I can think is that it's the baby's joints moving or clicking. I really don't know! I thought I was imagining it...

Probably hiccups. I never heard them but used to feel my baby get them at least twice a day! I could also see my tummy move at the same time. The clicks are about a second apart and last for a few minutes.
Congrats on the baby - not long now!

I have a bit of a clicking noise from my belly too-- I can feel it as well. To me, it feels/sounds like the baby is flicking my pelvis. I know the baby is head down and engaged, so I just assume the baby is hitting my pelvis somehow and it ends up making a slight noise as well. My husband doesn't hear it, so maybe I am making the noise up in my head to go along with the feeling. If you are worried about it, ask your doctor.

I did find something earlier when i googled it but i have lost it, i was going to cut and paste it for you. It did say on there that it could be hiccups but you say it isn't that. The only other thing i remember it saying was that it could be your muscles, where they are stretching or something, how true this is i dont know, sounds abit weird to me. I will have a look and if i can find it again i will post it xxx

I have heard it twice. It sounds like craking your knuckles under water. Its very strange. I felt a big kick when I heard it for the first time. I had forgotten about it. I want to know what it is. I will do some research and see what I find.

YES! it is fascinating - i have it too, like a pop/click sound. i did not have this with my first one. it mostly happens when my baby moves. my midwife had never heard of it so i think it is rare. i saw a blog where one person reported it is fluid bubbles or something. i find it is weird!

hahaha-sorry i dont mean to laugh but did you read the first answer-hahaha!
it sounds like your baby has hiccups, does your belly jolt a little when it happens? if you are really worried speak to your midwife-it may be that you are eating or drinking something different which is causing this.

Your ligaments in your joints soften when pregnant so it could be that thats causing the clicking; as my jaw and hips do it all the time when i move.
All the best x
