Let's assume your premise is true...
The fact that Scotty does know implies that he, at one point, was unaware of the fact.
He would have to have been informed of the fact before he could come to know, or even understand it.
Therefore, it stands to reason that Scotty, at one point, did in fact not know and therefore the song would still be relevant. Perhaps a little dated, due to the revelation of said fact to Scotty, but relevant nonetheless.

haha i thought about it too! but from what he says in the song Scotty is really dumb so he probably will never find it out..

If they had never sang the song he would still be oblivious to the fact his girl was cheating on him. I love that movie. Now you got the song in my head!

shhh.... scotty think he knows, but actually he doesn't. that's why the song stays as it is.
