Try AVG. Its free and all my computer mates use it. One has his own software company and recommends it.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

Both are considered resource hogs. i.e., they use more of your system resources, which results in slowing down of your computer.

As someone has already suggested, try AVG. It's free.

I use ZoneAlarm as a firewall, which is also free, AVG anti-virus and AVG Anti-Spyware (this is a 30 day trial of the full product. You then need to update manually but you still get protection.) Spybot - Search and Destroy, which is free (scroll past the donate item if you don't wish to donate money), and LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE.

See the links below.

Of course, there are many other anti-virus/anti-spyware products that are free. Just do a search for free anti-virus or free anti-spyware or free firewall.

None of the above. Norton adn Mcafee security suites are system hogs....they have the antivirus, spyware cleaner, spam blocker, and security stuff you need but they run all the programs from one central program so they scan themselves at the same time, they also use up alot of system resources when running, so a better solution is to check out seperate programs. AVG for antivirus, adaware and spybot search and destroy for spyware and malware protection/scanning, and spywareblaster to help protect your pc. Computer associates security suite has all the same stuff Norton and Mcafee have but the programs run independant of each other so they don't use up resources like the others. go to http://www.download.com to find a security solution that works for you.

I been using Mcafee and not had a problem with it. I think AVG is meant to be very good you can download AVG anti virus free from Downloads.com or buy the full version AVG Internet security.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

Personally, I believe neither. I have downloaded for free the AVG and Ad-aware personal. Both of these have been ideal for me. Log onto Download.com and download both for free.
