You're recording the sound, not storing it. You need to supply energy to get the sound back so it's a net loss of energy. It's no different from pointing a camcorder at the sun and recording it. You may feel like you're 'storing' the sunlight but again you need power to play back the image, so no real energy was stored. Scientists are working on a way to store individual photons as standing waves, which has great promise for computing but not energy storage. The best way to 'store' light would be to shine the light on a solar cell and charge a battery with the electricity produced.Then you could use the power to run a light or anything else. Energy is energy, regardless of the form.

This thing which you said about the sound being stored, it is not exactly stored in the form of sound energy by converted into electrical waves and stored. Light energy can be stored and sent to in the form of electrical energy and then changed use..

It is already being done in producing television pictures. Like sound, Light can be converted into electric signals and tranmitted to long distances by means of proper method.

Photo electric cell can charge a battery and on demand we can use battery to operate a light or a flash light, phone........
Photon from light can rotate a photon mill that can power a generator, that can charge a battery and on demand we can use the battery for any thing that we want.

if its about recording and then playing video camera
can serve the purpose and if its about live with out recording
light can be guided by multiple reflections as in optical fibers.

ur answer is in ur Q......offcorse we can save energy weather its recieved in light form or any oder form......however.....its not neccesserily that the stored energy is in same form as it was recieved.........u can convert light signals into electrical signals........(by using phtodetectors).........and then they can be saved in digital form.........and can again be reproduce in light signals by using LED or LASER.
