Because you are putting on muscle and muscle is heavier than fat !!! So for a while you'll "gain" wt., but you aren't really getting fatter, you will soon begin to lose wt. according to the scale, for now trust the way your clothes begin to feel loser around the waist !!!
And remember muscle burns more calories as you build them up!!!
keep up that swimming!!! It's the best exercise in the worls (along with the treadmill & bike riding and speed walking!!!)

Well done you! I think you are building muscle though - you either need to speed up the swimming, or also combine it with a diet (sorry, horrid word) It's the best exercise going, well I think so! You need to push yourself to the point where you are breathless - gentle swimming won't shift weight - sorry!

Firstly, you may be gaining muscle and secondly, swimming makes you hungry maybe you're eating more.

calorie input is greater than calorie output.

But having weight is not bad in itself it is rather the type of weight.
