I never really appreciated the 'depth' hard rock lyrics could go to until I heard "One" by Metallica.

It was late one night and my 3 younger syblings went to bed. My 3 older ones were out of the house somewhere. We had watched a Betty Davis Movie- The Nanny. I was 12 years old and feeling a little creeped out by that movie anyway. That whole night I hogged the couch in our long narrow breezeway that had been enclosed and turned into a family room.
I'll never forget it because that night I had a car mirror wedged into the crack in the back of the couch so I did not have to crane my neck to see the TV at the far end of that narrow breezeway... What followed that old Nanny movie was a latenight broadcast of the Doors Live. The Black and white one. I had never been so moved in my life!
The next day I sang Light My Fire all day. After hearing it just once.
To this day I am an organ player who loves creeped out stuff and I think it is just me wanting to climb through that mirror and into the screen of the TV before the couch can swallow me up!

Heatseeker, by AC/DC; my father used to play it when I was a toddler and, I think for that reason, I've always liked the rock genre.

"Am I missing?" by Dashboard Confessional. It got me into emo, and it's not that bad.
