Do more 'intelligent' animals like dogs, dolphins and elephants have more emotion if compared to other animals like chicken, ducks and caterpillars?

Can you please find some articles about this online? Or do the scientists have found any proof in this subject?

Thanks! :)

of course animals have feelings.
and i think the answer to your other question would also be yes.
but i know that chickens are at least at the same level of intelligence as dogs and cats.
no one is really sure if insects' brains are large enough for them to recognize pain. (i'm pretty sure bugs do not have emotions tho)

Yes they do, most assuredly so. They all do, and you don't need an article to tell you. They can feel everything you can in their own way. Take a look at your pet whom you love and cherish and care for. They beam! Look into the eyes of a factory farm animal, or a mistreated pet, and you will see all their pain.
An experiment was done to see if a common housefly could learn. It was allowed to fly until it was caught in a spider web (the spider was allowed to make a web and then removed). After being caught a few times, the fly LEARNED! to avoid the webs. If they have that capacity....
It was put to me many years ago that everything that is alive knows it is alive, and I would put to you that it wants to be so.
You can type into "search" and find thousands of articles about animal feeling and emotions. I think a lot of people are really not sure just how powerful the "search" is and how just two or three words like "animal feeling emotions research" can get thousands of choices of information. 878,000 web sites from Yahoo search alone and the first five are below. Life, all life is precious and it has feelings, irregardless of size or complexity.

This is something of a taboo subject among biologists, as they do not wish to be accused of anthropomorphism.

I recommend this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/When-Elephants-Weep-Emotional-Animals/dp/0099478919

It starts from the premise that animals do have feelings, but it is still very good and explains things very well. It also has an extensive bibliography that should point you in the right direction to find out.

although no one can say exactly what an animal is thinking - it is probably related to the size cerebral cortex in relation to the size of the animal. Ie if an animal has a large cerebral cortex and a small body then its emotional and cognitive powers of reasoning tend to be higher. on the other hand an animal with a smaller cerebral cortex and a large body will rely mostly on instinct alone. as you might expect humans, other primates, and dolphins all have comparatively large cerebral cortexes'

I would think that different species of animals and intelligence have different levels of emotion, yes. They say that fish only have a memory of a few seconds so how would they know if they are having a good/bad day! Dogs I believe have a deeper level of emotion. Our dog seems to smile when you stroke his tummy!! His teeth are always on show when you do this, likr he's enjoying it and when you stop he puts his paws on your arm or leg until you continue. Our other dog seems to sulk when her fur is shaved off for the summer as I think she feels naked without all the fur. Elephants also have very long memories and I've read stories of how they pack together to save their young, how they mourn their dead and also take revenge on people who have killed one of their own. Fascinating stuff.

I'm not sure about the other animals, but I know for sure that fish have feelings. This fact was immortalized in B.J. Thomas' song, "I'm Hooked on a Feeling."

I believe that animals love and share your feelings,..YES,..I have lost my babies (Pets) the most cherished of all pets ~ Like my children......

I will still 'ache' for them and I believe that they are with me all the time because of the strength of feelings we had when they were alive.

Love stays with you Forever!!!!!!
