In my opinion, I think either Hawaii or Washington State or Oregon. There's an area in Washington State around Port Angeles that is the most absolute beautiful country side I've ever seen, it's up close to Canada in the thick wooded hillside. It's amazing.
I've never been to Hawaii, but I'm obsessed with going there, reading about it and seeing pictures. It's breathtaking in some areas, so I could imagine that would also be one of the most beautiful states to live in.
Also, the Florida Keys or somewhere along the coast line of Florida is quite beautiful too.
But then, you have the country side of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolina's, etc, where the sounds of tree frogs and crickets at dusk near an old pond with the smell of Jasmine, Magnolia, or Honeysuckle in the air puts you at ease.
Or, the plains of Texas, Iowa, Kansas, etc. Or the quiet desert nights of New Mexico and Nevada, etc.
I could go on, and on. It just all depends on what you're looking for. Do you like the country, do you like the sea side with a tropical climate or a more north-weastern seaside feel.
The USA has it all, just all depends on what you want.

Hoo, boy, are you going to bring on the bias with this one!
I haven't lived in them all, of course, but I had the most peace and quiet in rural Pennsylvania. It is beautiful if you stay away from the old steel mills and stay out of the coal regions.

Well I live in New Jersey. If you are looking for peace, STAY AWAY! Most hectic state ever. Highest taxes out of all 50 states, tough traffic, and highest population per square mile. GOOOOD TIMES...

i say Florida because of its beautiful beaches, the caves in the panhandle, the hills on mount Dora, the lakes and natural springs full of fish and manatees, the deer in the forests, and when your bored with all of that there is always something to do there, no matter what your taste.

That depends on what you are looking for. What do you consider beautiful, and how much peaceful can you take before it is simply boring?

Texas , florida, and california. I live in dallas and there is so much land, and i just love it. But, thats me. For most people they would choose california. california has amazing weather, i consider san francisco because ive been there and it is heaven. florida is a exception too. florida is not too bad. i went to disneyworld in orlando and it was nice. but just remember weather is kind of icky. So, my choice is California
