One of the main improvements over the Pentium D, is that the core2duo has "shared" l2 cache instead of dedicated.

Why should you care? If say a program you are running, operates on a cycle of core A and there is cached data associated with it, if on the next cycle it uses core B, it has to run all the way through the system bus and back through the other core to access the cached data. That is slow. Shared cache FTW.

Here what they represents !!!

Intel Dual Core = 32 bit (For Desktop PC's)

Intel Core Duo = 32 bit (For Laptops Pc's)

Intel Core 2 Duo = 64 bit (For both laptop and Desktop PC's)

therefore 64 bit processor is faster than 32 bit processor

So your's Intel Core Duo or Dual Core will be same but there may be a little difference in Core duo speed as it is so compact so it will work a little fast, but it also depends on the bus speed of the processor.

The two processors have about the same performance levels, however, the Intel core duo has a slight edge over the pentium d. Also the intel core duo is newer which means it will be able to support newer things.

Yes Intel core duo is better.Intel core duo has More level 2 cache(fast memory for retrieving previous calculations for better performance)

BIG BIG difference! Core2 Duo does more per clock cycle. Just look at the benchmarks:

The fast-clocked but old tech Pentium Ds are always at the bottom of the heap.
BUT watch out for the new and cheap Pentium E2160 and E2140 that are based on Core2 Duo technology.
