Why do Americans often forget to switch off the kitchen gas or stop tap-water?

Seriously, I don't know ANYONE who forgets to turn off the gas in the kitchen. That's a major fire hazard. Maybe people with Alzheimers, but that's not an American thing.

I don't think Americans are any worse at tap water than other people, either.

Although, I hear AUSTRALIANS are really good with water conservation -- they have to be, with the water shortages.

Much of America is blessed with abundant rainfall. The big water waster in America is sprinklers and irrigation systems that shoot water into the air -- where some of it evaporates before it hits the ground. I don't think we're very wasteful in the kitchen, at all.

Is that so. Just Americans do that. Must be something in their water. Do you suppose that some gang is secretly doping the water to make Americans forget the gas and other things.

I am sure glad I don't live there. Just think i might blow my house apart and have no place ot sleep.

While they are certainly not the only ones who forget; they are inclined to be more wasteful than others in the world. That is a fact.

Guess I am one of those odd Americans that shut off lights, water, gas, turn down the heat, turn down the air, and any number of other things to keep my utilities bills down.

I am so tight, I could sit on charcoal and turn it into a diamond so I know it aint me you're talking about.
