There are some good answers here. There are different kinds of love, agape is the God kind of love. The closer you can get to that with another human, the better and more love you have. There are, also, different aspects of love relationships, you can love someone and you can be in love with someone. Being in love with someone can happen very quickly, even at first glance. Loving someone, however, always takes time. It means that you know every crevice of them (their emotions, mind, body, spirit, and experiences). That takes time. When you love someone, you love them regardless and in spite of anything they do or say. It is as involuntary a reflex as sleeping when you are tired. You see their face, their hopes, and their dreams in everything you do. And, you put them first in your life, even before self. Although, if you're religious you should put God first and your love or spouse second. Love is like looking out over a sea of flowers and being able to pick one and only one. Then if you look away and look back, you always see that same flower. Even over a Fall and Winter when there are no flowers, in the Spring when they return, you can pick out that same exact flower. It is wonderful and it is terrifying.

Love is when something/someone makes you feel that you are the best you can be when you are with them.
Such a feeling naturally makes you want to give back the person so that they feel the same expansion of the soul.
Love makes people want to GIVE.
That is the primary difference between love and infatuation (infatuation focuses on how the person makes you feel special but infatuation doesn't care about giving anything back) and lust (lust focuses on the physical feelings ignoring other deeper feelings or sometimes pretending other deeper feelings exist)
Whether it's loving a spouse (you want to make their life as nice as possible) lovign a child (you want to make their life work towards practical adulthood) loving a family member or friend (you want to give them a good feeling whenever they are around) real love is about wanting to ADD to someone's life or experience.

There's nothing about love. Love is just loving someone you think you love. That's all.

In general: God is love and Love is God
More specific love can come in many different forms and it shows up differently in people becuase everybody has a different way of expressing it.
Love will make you feel something and it usually makes you happy, content, and fulfilled. You should feel this way most of the time, with the exception of times when your feeling other emotions, since you should be loving yourself.
Later---Good Question--

You will not understand what love is unless you experience it.
You definitely are not even close to that.
I suggest you try to do the right things and you will experience the love soon.
Good Luck.

Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

"Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love."
"Love grows by giving. The love we give away is the only love we keep. The only way to retain love is to give it away."
Love is something you can't describe
like the look of a rose,
the smell of the rain,
or the feeling of forever.
It is not how much you do, but how much Love you put into the doing that matters.

love is an unstoppable force.
it can bring you lots of happiness and also sadness.
it can bring you to the highest level of heaven and the lowest depths of hell.
it is a gamble and a war with the affairs of the heart.
it is unconditional and also cause of many crimes...
