Right now the best the Bears got is Ogunleye, but can Mark Anderson be top 10?

Well, he is on a team where he won't get doubled and blocking backs' attentions will be elsewhere, so that works in his favor. He'll need to stop losing tackles like Tank Johnson.

Keep in mind that in the NFL in a single year, top 10 at DE is a pretty broad swath. I mean, a guy can be a top 10 end for one season, get injured, and never play at that level again. For example, Osi Umenyiora was easily top 10 two years ago, but not last season. It's not unlikely that Anderson could be a top 10 guy for one year.

I too am a Bears fan, but Anderson thrived being a pass rushing specialist. At his size, if he has to play every down, he will become worn down by being blocked by much larger tackles and guards and his numbers might tail off. If he can gain some weight (I think he plays around 255) and not lose any speed, he could be there, but I think he'll be better served as a specialist.

Maybe. He's in the right system, and there's a lot more to worry about on the Bears' D than a no-name defensive end who wants to excel.

But can Mark go for it?
