And please don't say Bush. His record is a very mixed one at best.

Chronologically, I rate them as:
1. Theodore Roosevelt
2. Franklin Roosevelt
3. Dwight Eisenhower
4. John Kennedy
5. Ronald Reagan

To the real Ed-Mike: Wilson. Interesting choice. I can see that, and maybe should have picked him instead of Ike.

Carter? Why? He was a miserable failure as President, singularly failing at every challenge he dealt with, from the Iranian Hostage drama, to the gas shortage, incredible inflation, high unemployment, failed policies on price and wage regulation, etc.

To Greatwhitenorth28 - Dubya was not a President of the 20th Century. Maybe that's why nobody mentioned him. Plus the fact that I even asked people not to mention him.

To Michael: What great accomplishments did Clinton have as President? He lucked out to be there after the cold war ended and in a time of peace, and lucked out because of the red hot economy caused by the information revolution and internet, but he actually did very little as President to cause either, and in fact squandered an ideal opportunity (peace and robust economy) to pass any real reforms like SS reform. I view him as a middle of the road president. A placeholder with little accomplished.

" 1 reagan- stoped the cold war
2 frank roosevelt- its him
3 Nixon- compain all you want about water gate he still opened talks with china and russia
4 Ike- he nuked the japs nuff said
5 LBJ- great socity" -- evilmonk66

Ike didn't nuke the Japs,, Truman ordered it while Ike was in the Army in Europe

LBJs policies led to 60,000 Americans losing their lives in Vietnam.

I like the questioners list, but Kennedy's legacy being only three years, it's rally tough to tell. Truman may pass Kennedy on my list.

I like your list, but I think JFK & Reagan have been romanticized too much.

Who said Ike dropped the bomb on the japs? That was Truman!

Here's mine:

Teddy Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson
Franklin Roosevelt
Harry Truman
Dwight David Eisenhower

For my money Ike is the most under-rated President in history.

merely 3? Woodrow Wilson (The Federal Reserve) FDR (Social risk-free practices and Keynesian economics) LBJ (Socialized drugs) Nixon (Drug conflict) Carter (take your %.) the suitable 3? JFK JFK JFK ....the only one with the balls to stand as much as the Federal Reserve.

Good choices. I would put FDR ahead of Teddy, however but that is a minor point. I also would replace Kennedy with Truman.

I would agree except I think:

Roosevelt (both)
Kennedy
Carter-humanitarian
Johnson
Nixon (was good until he got nailed)
(add another one) Reagan was great too. He did alot.
Definitely not past that!
