Do you actually believe any of that money would reach the people? The reason Africa is in the shape its in is the despotic rulers there don't care about their people. If we poured money all over them, they would just keep it and get richer while their countries starved. My church was once affiliated with a group of churches in Kenya. All charitable contributions that were given to them had to be deposited in a bank in England because the Kenyan government would steal anything (cash or goods) that entered the country. The others are the same...Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, you name the country and it will have a corrupt government.
And no, they wouldn't be grateful. They'd want to know why we didn't do it sooner and they'd expect it again in the future, as would the rest of the world.

No, it would be ignorant. Why give that much $$$$$ to Africa, when we have such a need in the US. Give each kid a computer? I have 2 kids and 1 computer. Fiber Optic Internet isn't even available everywhere in the US yet. We can't even take care of our own people, and we're sending foreign aid out left and right. Blehhhh.......

It was tried in 1985 with Live-Aid. Remember Bob Geldoff? The Ethiopian government took almost the entire amount and gave only one or two percent to the people who were starving. I'm all for helping people in need, but this kind of bulk help isn't going to save the ones who need it. We (the people) should try sending our aid to those Christian charities where you can sponsor a kid or two for $30.00 a month. You are making a difference in someone else's life, and you know that the government can't get their hands on YOUR money.

You are funny... Africans don't need money, they have more ressources than you think... I do have a lot of African friends and they all agree on one thing... Foreign influences in Africa is the thing that keep these countries from developing...
Also, who told you that you need all those things to live an happy life?? Most of them are happier than us, so you should not have pity, they are the ones that will laugh later...

Well considering that the entire US budget in 2007 was 2.4 trillion dollars.
I'd like to know how we could give Africa 8 trillion every year ?
Have you been saving pennies or what ?

every time we give money or food to any african nation, it just gets worse. The problem is some war lord takes all the food, by force if necessary.. and for free, and sell it. This makes him richer.. and the people poorer. The best thing to do is leave them alone except for medical aid.

Wouldn't that bankrupt the US ? You guys arn't in that great shape to be able to do a fraction of that ! I was amazed at the homeless problem in America when I visited last year, why don't you clean up your own back yard.

I believe that if person is going to help another he or she better make sure that the people within his or her household is one hundred percent satisfied. The ethics in this situation is not how much money we should give right now or in the future it is WHERE IS THE MONEY RIGHT NOW AND WHERE WILL IT BE SENT IN THE FUTURE.

NO THEY WOULDN'T!!!!
What they would do is instigate a war with America and try to become the dominate world power.
No one ever remembers what sacrifices a country has made for THEIR well being.... they are never concerned with being grateful, instead they just ***** about not getting more!
Americans are F*CKING starving too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But we still give billions each year, and become more hated at the same time!!!
