Final Fantasy is an RPG, the most popular franchise of RPG's..
their basically long games costing you like 50-100 hours of play time, playing the life of the hero of a particular story of love, learning, betrayal and sacrifice..
the one in the video is a movie sequel to
their most popular game, Final Fantasy VII, so no you cant play that! =P
they have new games coming out for the ps3 though..
if your still kinda interested to play final fantasy, check this out it has pretty close graphics to the video you saw..

The Final Fantasy series is not a Fighting Game series. It's an RPG series. However; there IS a Final Fantasy Fighting Game...

Final Fantasy is an RPG game. It centers around four Warriors of Light who do great things and save the world. A lot of freedom is given to the player like, what type of characters they get, what they name them and what abilities they learn. The player controls one icon around the map and develops the other character's powers and strength. In battle the four warriors of light are seen and a list of attacks appear for each character. The battles are fought in this fashion for the bulk of the Final Fantasy games.

Final Fantasy got such good reviews that a second one came out. The two had a lot of the same elements, creatures, concepts, game play, etc. but was totally unrelated story wise.

And then another and then another.

Slowly, as Final Fantasy's reputation began to spread, the graphics became better and better going from four dots per a character to numerous little pixels for a character's face. The story lines became more indepth as well with greater backstory to characters and detailed enimes. This took away some freedom from the player because they could no longer choose what kind of characters they could play with: ie: Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, etc.

Square has always tried to make the games about heart more than anything. They seem to be willing to sacrifice over all everything else first before the story. They make their games heartfelt and powerful with twists and turns and tear jerkers along the way.

Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy game to come out with sound. Because of this the player lost even more freedom because now they could only name one character: The main character, as all the other characters were referred to out loud by the name Square had chosen for them. By this time Final Fantasy hadn't changed much in it's fighting format. The battle is still commenced with a list of attacks the player chooses from.

But then something interesting happened... Dissidia came out. Final Fantasy Dissidia is a fighting game for the PSP. It has a story line that is short enough and entertaining enough, but it is at heart a fighting game. It features all the main heroes from the first ten Final Fantasy games and all the main villains from those games as well. The game allows an online conference room for players as well as multiple players to battle each other. Unlike the main series, Dissidia allows for the player to roam freely around the map during a battle and fight while jumping in the air, sliding around, etc. Each character has their own special ability or personality in fighting. Some are better at close range battles while others use magic from far away. Each of the character's main powerful attacks are patterned after attacks from their original game. If you're into fighting games I highly recommend you check out Dissidia and its prequeal Dissidia 012 for the PSP.

If you like Role Playing Games (or wouldn't mind giving them a try) I would recommend Final Fantasy VIII, IX and X. But remember, VIII and IX have no voice actors so you'll have to read the storylines.
