Will Lionel Messi be suspended from La Liga for scoring a goal from an obvious handball? Or will blatant cheating be tolerated because it wasn't seen by the on field officials at the time? And what does this teach players that continue to cheat?

Maradona became a legend for his handball...Messi has become a criminal. The guy is one of the best players in the world...give him a break...that goal was awesome....your just jealous because you wouldnt be able to do it yourself.

It is highly unlikely he will be suspended. Yes, the blatant cheating unfortunatly will be tolerated because it wasn`t seen at the time by the officials. It is disgraceful. Messi is a cheating scum and he is allowed to get away with it. And he now knows he can do it again. This is what is wrong with football today - cheating is seen as acceptable and as part of the game. In the future, it may take a long time, but if the cheating continues and its not punished football will go to the dogs. Messi copied Maradona, i hate them both. Maradona isn`t the greatest ever - he was a drug taking cheat and messi will follow. I hope Real win La Liga.

Messi Handball Goal

Should every player who ever scored a handball goal turn himself or herself in? Because, if you want to be perfectly fair, and not just change the outcome of 1 game, that is what would have to happen. The game is played and refereed by imperfect beings, and if something like this happens once in a great while, then so be it. It's not life and death, it's just a game.

unfortunatly there is nothing that will be done and it is such a shame that for such an important football league that the referees are just disgraceful not only in the barca game but also in the sevilla game. i dont understand how for such an important match do they allow those things to happen thankfully it didnt give barcelona the three points and the lead. someone mentioned that its not the first time someone does it and that is the problem that it continues to happen and it is basically saying you are allowed to cheat and the rules dont matter. i believe that the officials need a good Ophthalmologist and messi should consider becoming a volleyball player.

It's a cheat, but I don't think he will be punished since it's referee's fault that he didn't notice Messi's handball. Usually whether a player suspended or not it heavily depends on whether referee decided he commited foul or not. If referee didn't say anything about his foul, the FA should review whether he commited serious and deliberate foul or not, like assault towards opponent or supporter. If not, then the player doesn't deserve punishment.

Of course I can't say this is good , but it's a lesson for match official to be more alert.

He shouldn't turn himself in, but replays should be implemented, just becuase the ref didn't see it, doesnt mean it didnt happen! neglect should not the be reason to all end. if these games are being judged by imperfect beings then maybe they should clean up the game. im sure if the scoreline was 1-2 and espanoyl needed those points to stay afloat and not be relegated, then we have a different story. if espanoyl was at the bottom, there would be a major uproar!

He won't be suspended for it. In spain they feel differently about what happened... their attitude is that if the officials didn't see it then he did nothing wrong! What is it about Argentinians that they feel that cheating is ok...their attitude stinks. They are all cheating, under handed sore losers who never seem to win anything fairly. Messi and Maradona... not exactly good examples of human beings for kids to look up to!!!

Of course not and even though I support Barca, I think Maradona has something to do with both goals. The first one against Getafe and the second one yesterday. Maradona in disguise.
