Yes, it is. Until the 1960s, stores used to sell brushed aluminum kitchen sets that housewives kept on their stoves all the time. Each set had a salt shaker, a pepper shaker, and a grease canister. People saved their bacon grease in those canisters and used it for cooking and flavoring all kinds of things. Nobody in my family, or anyone else I knew, ever got sick or died from it. @Rhubarb: Botulism grows only in airtight conditions -- like nice fresh cans of veggies. @Ed: I wonder why the percentage of people who develop Alzheimer's these days is so much higher than it was when most people ate things that supposedly cause it.

It just wouldn't be right if I was frying bacon and I didn't yell at it! I don't yell very nice words at it either(good thing I don't have kids yet)!! I bought a microwave bacon cooker at wal-mart because I couldn't stand it anymore. The bacon is actually really good that way, I was very surprised!

Well bless your heart I guess cooking isn't going well when a person has to talk to whatever is being cooked and having said that may I recomend a splatter screen or a lid on the skillet.
