NO
Let's drill in Alaska and in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Chinese are drilling in the Gulf - why not us? Oh yeah...nutty environmentalists here in the US. They would be in prison in China.

Of course not. The U.S. govt. doesn't secure oil supplies for the American people, which is a point that conservatives don't get. The govt. forces countries to privatize their oil supplies, allowing private businesses to invest and own the oil fields. The oil is sold to China as well as to everybody else and the global oil corps. make all the money. Bush's friends are heavily vested in oil companies and military weapons manufacturers and make a killing.
Even now the Iraqi Congress is preparing to vote on a bill to privatize 80% of Iraq's oil fields, with Bush's gun to their heads. Despite staring down the barrels of U.S. guns, the Iraqis are rallying against the bill and may not pass it.
If the U.S. nationalized the U.S. based oil companies, then Americans could benefit from the rape of defenseless countries.

No and that really wasn't what it was about either. This man couldn't care less about securing any U.S. interests of any kind. He and his father hate this country and are laughing all the way to their Swiss Bank accounts at us arguing amongst each other what we think he is really trying to accomplish. It is called money. Almost a half of a trillion dollars so far. The biggest swindle in the history of mankind.

Well, we have to get our oil from somewhere, since the environmentalists in this country have lobbied to block drilling of other potentially viable sources. And it's true that this war is, in part, about oil--not just for the US but for the world. The world must be assured the free flow of oil form one of the world's largest reserves. You do NOT want insurgent thugs controlling this region. Poor nations especially are depending on it. Wouldn't it be nice of more nations stepped up and supported us in a humanitarian effort?

At least that would have been honest. Given the Carter Doctrine that clearly states that the middle east is in the US sphere of influence and that we will go to war to protect our interests there the Bush administration could have found a degree of cover in stating exactly what out goals were and why.

NO, but thats precisely why 9/11 was created so people would approve of a war on terror instead. Conviently the alledged terrorists just happened to be located above Iraq's oil fields.

Interesting question. Some of the cons who love to say this war is not illegal have answered yes to your question - demonstrating that they do not either know nor respect international law in this matter.

Absolutley. And yes that's why we are there. I'm ok with that. We don't eat without oil. Oil runs the farm equipment, the trucks and trains that haul the stuff around to it's various stages of production then ultimatly to the store where we buy it. There are a hell of a lot more things that are affected than a gallon of gas. Most people don't even think about that.

I would have said no. There is a civil war going on there and all we are doing is keeping a lid on it if we leave now they will hate us if we stay they will hate us even more but at least other countries might not hate us as much if we pull out

Yes, the United States needs oil. Our military needs oil, oil is the basis of our entire military. If there is no oil, the US military stops and the US becomes vulnerable. What would you say if our economy grinded to a halt, millions died, and our military became useless because we did not have oil?

Furthermore, the US has not recieved on once of oil from Iraq since the 80's, so please. Stop with the bullshit.
