Personally, there isn't anything I would stand in line for. Put in advance order on amazon.com and pay the extra for overnight shipping. Once you get it, you won't be too tired to read it.

Of course, keep in mind that I'm 56. I remember waiting out on the tarmac at Logan Airport in Boston all night for the Beatles to arrive.

If you are young and have the energy, go for it. You might have a blast and meet some new friends!!!

We always get ours at our local grocery store. Usually about 50 people show up, and we all wait around until midnight. It's like a small book party, as compared to the huge ones at Barnes & Noble that we will avoid. Plus, it's all neighborhood people, so we trust that there won't be any leaks, and everyone is friendly. It's a lot of fun!

I was probably the only person the last time who had a profound moment as I looked around the small crowd and realized that a common interest had tied so many different people together: from age 5 to at least 80, all different races, punks and emos, to soccer moms, to professionals, to grandparents. Everyone was laughing and talking, when on any other day they'd be avoiding and ignoring each other.

So to me, it's more fun than ordering it online or waiting to get it later, and less crazy than going to a big bookstore.

If you go to a local Borders or Barnes and Noble you can pre-order your copy of Deathly Hallows. My local Barnes and Noble usually holds a party for the release of a new Harry Potter book and hand out the pre-ordered books at midnight.

I am afraid of leaks while standing in the line, but I think I'll be okay if I get the book as soon as they start selling them and leave.

Anyway, make sure that you get the book as soon as possible by either going to the bookstore that night or getting it online. The sooner you read it for yourself, the less chance there is that you will hear any spoilers!

No.

It's not like the book will be available ONLY on that day. Just wait a few days and it will be in every retail store, and you can go up to it like a civilized person, pick up a copy, and walk calmly to the cash register.

If you wait outside, you'll just look pathetic like the other line-waiters and you'll probably end up getting an elbow to the jaw when the mad rush begins.

If you haven't pre-ordered your copy, you might have fun waiting in line. It wouldn't be for me, but you will meet people who have a lot of the same interests as you. Go for it, you're only young once - enjoy it.

My copy is pre-ordered and will be delivered on my doorstep. It may only be the next day, but who cares - I won't be stuck in a crowded book store all day.

if you like harry potter.........if you are in no rush put your name on a list so they reserve a copy for you and pick it up later in the day.
