First learn to be a leader. Your like the coach on the floor. You must learn to dribble with both hands with your head up and see the floor. You must learn to limit your turnovers and make good decisions. Make sure the offense that the coach calls is being ran and know when to run and when to slow down. You must be able to score when needed and get the ball to the man with the hot hand. Watch a lot of videos of some of the great point guards in the past.

Good tips for a point guard are always lead by example. Work with your team, know each players strengths and set them up with the looks they like. Each player has a certain place they like to catch the ball, some shooters like to curl around screens and catch the ball high while different post players like their entry passes different ways. Once you learn how your teammates like to receive the ball then it is your responsbibility to get it to them that way. Also a great point guard always offers encouragement, even when other players aren't at their best it is a point guard who can help them gain confidence. I hope that helps.

push the tempo during fast breaks rather than let up

any point should know how to dribble, pass, and shoot layups with the left, or off, hand

keep your eyes up at the whole court at al times, as opposed to looking down at the ball
