I would have to say your house is haunted. Like they say you will know when you have had an experience with the paranormal and in your case it seems you already know the answer. About the poster that fell off the wall, was your window open or any other source that could cause a breeze in your room? As far as the bang you had heard then seeing nothing out of place seems to be pretty common, I have that all the time at my house and when I go to look nothing out of place, so I take pictures and sure enough I get an orb or mist. But please don't be scared and if you are really interested in finding out either find an investigation team or you could snap some photos and do some EVP recording.

After reading your question, it sounds to me like some unexpected things have happened which have spooked your family, and now everyone believes in a ghost which feeds the power of suggestion.
* You thought you saw a glimpse of a woman, likely out of the corner of your eye. It's commonplace for people to experience this visual illusion in their peripheral vision.
* You heard a sound but couldn't place where it was coming from. This happens in my house as well, and probably in most houses. It's not always easy to detect the direction a sound has come from.
* It certainly isn't unknown for posters to fall off walls, for very natural reasons (gravity!)
* I've also had the experience of hearing a loud sound in the attic, or sometimes the basement. Upon investigation, I found nothing. It could be I overlooked something that had fallen over. Or, it could have been a floor joist or beam suddenly shifting slightly. That happens as well and can cause a loud knock.
* Doors have been known to open by themselves for very natural reasons. The latch didn't latch fully, a breeze blew it open, or it may swing open just by gravity if the hinge line isn't completely plumb.
* The penny incident sounds strange! But still, there are explanations. Did your dad knock over something on the way down, spilling some change? A penny rolling down the stairway would build up enough energy to bounce around like that.
* Finally, are you sure that a member of your family isn't playing tricks on you?
My advice is this: Have a family meeting and decide all together that you're not going to believe in this ghost just yet. You're going to look at all things that happen objectively and see if there is a rational explanation. Remember that unexpected things happen all the time as a part of life, and they all have explanations for why they happen. They are just not always easy to find.

YES, I certainly sounds like your house is active. It sound much like what happened in one of the houses I lived in. My father didn't believe all that stuff (OMG, I could tell you stories that would freak you out) until he and Momma heard someone walk in the back door, open the cabinet, turn on the water, they could actually hear gulping!, and my dad thought it was my sister and he kept calling for her. He was angry because she never answered so he got up and nobody was there, the door was still locked, no glass in the sink, and the sink was dry, and, my sister wasn't home yet.. My mom said he was white as a ghost when he came back to bed, LOL, I was so glad to hear he'd actually had something like that happen. He no longer locked my brother in the dark bathroom, where he'd get physically attacked during those times. I've lived in several haunted houses, the one I just mentioned was the bad one, the others were very harmless. You might want to see if there are any paranormal investigators around your area. Also, check out the history of your house and who's lived there.

I investigate the paranormal and have seen many things that can not be explained in the over 30 years of research in this area. One thing about haunting is no one can tell you if your place is haunted without going in and running some test. it does appear you have activity.
if no one is being harmed and no children are being targeted then i would not feel the need to rush through an investigation but i would look around for someone who will come in and check it out. Find someone who isn't charging as in this field it shouldn't be as it is a research which drives this type of thing. anyone who charges is clearing not into finding answers but is in it for the money.
If things are not threatening and i were you i would try and capture something on tape, video and or audio devices, do an investigation on your own and try to find reasons for some of these things. you maybe surprise to find that not everything you mentioned is paranormal activity.
best of luck.

I would get some Holy Water and ask a priest to bless the house. Both of my parents and grandparents(I think)have seen ghosts.I sometimes hear things, but I've only seen things a couple times. If the ghosts start trying to harm you, then tell them that they can't harm you because you are a Christian and you believe in God.That has worked fo me,although it probably wasn't gonna hurt me or anything,I just didn't have the time.Again,GET SOME HOLY WATER AND A PRIEST.Dude,if that don't work, then you need to call in someone like James van Praag, the consultant from Ghost Whisperer.

Sounds like it is haunted to me. Most of the time young children are the only ones who experience visions and talking to a ghost. Young children's minds are more open to spirits than adults are. If your parents are experiencing things it is a bigger chance your house is haunted. If no one is being hurt it is probably okay, just scary. A friend of mine does believe in ghosts, and describes the ones that don't hurt or purposely try to scare people as benevolent. I have had a few experiences while I was with this friend, but I think it was because she believes.

It sounds like that could be a possible explanation for all those strange things that are happening. Adolescents, especially female adolescents have a way of attracting parapsychic energy. If they are ghosts, it really doesn't seem like they want to hurt you, they just want to be noticed. Just tell them that you know they are there, you are very sorry that they have died, you can't really do anything to help them, and to please stop doing things that scare you. That generally works. Sometimes you have to tell them more than once because sometimes they may forget.
If they still try to scare you, try what "Brando" (a few answers up) suggested or something similar, but you have to really believe when you say this. I would also try hanging a cross in my room, preferably facing my bed or the door.

It may be, but let me point out a few things to you.
If you are a Christian, then you need to know that the view of Ghosts being dead people roaming the earth goes against the Bibles teachings.
I always tell people to look for shadow people. Shadow people are a good indication that there is a demon present.
If the woman or figure that your father saw were dark shadowy figures, then you probably have a demon.
There is no idication that they are restrained to location, I believe they are attracted to particular people.
If this is the case, then prayer will get you a lot further than trying to fight it or getting a psychic involved.
Practicing magic, communicating with the dead, and psychic abilities are considered sins, and are performed through demonic possession according to the bible.
Prayer works, get into your Bible, and ask for Gods help.
Demons are actually powerful angels, Satan himself is the most powerful of the most powerful choir of angels, the Cherubim.
Good luck.

possibly, there are somethings you can do on your own. !) start keeping a journal of what happens, look for any patterns, certain day, certain month, time of day. also write down everything that happend and include date, time of revent, where you were what happend who else witnessed it. also look for a paranormal group in your area. you may need to do a bit of research for that part. also if you have a cam corder set it up on a night shot, if you can, and place it in a room with the most activity, if you get a paranormal group have them take a look at it.

Well, I swear my family lived with a ghost in the house. It was not as active as your ghost and it seemed like it liked to play marbles.
We found out that a child had died in a fire in real life. My children would have more contact with it than I did, but and adult friend of mine heard the ghost ask him a question when I was getting ready to sell the house. It asked him "What are you doing here?".
