I signed a year's lease when I moved into my apartment. The lease is up July 1st. If I move out before the 1st do I get my deposit back or do I still have to give a 30 day notice? The lease doesn't state any thing about the end of the contract.........It just states that if I were to break the lease then i would have to give a 30 day notice to do so.......

It depends on what you signed. If the contract is for a year, then it's for a year. There can be quite a few things that can happen to you if you break your lease-reletting fees, loss of deposit, acceleration of lease contract, and on and on. I'll bet that 30 day notice things says more than just giving 30 days notice. You need to read it all. When you sign a lease, you should ask about anything you don't understand and you should read every bit of it. I go over mine with new tenants about what I expect from them and what they can expect from me, then we both initial the pages so that no one can say they didn't understand. My lease also tells you that before you sign, you should take your lease to an attorney if you don't understand everything. It is a binding contract. Leases can't automatically renew but I ask for 30 days notice that a tenant is moving so that we either sign another year's lease or I know that they are going so that I can start preparing to rent it again. Why don't you ask the manager? Some are much nicer than others.

If there is no automatic renewal clause in the lease, you have to move out by July 1st, or at least you have to pay the rent until July 1st and you can move out sooner.
