I would recommend an HP laptop because it can be used for college as well as for entertainment. HP has built in web cam and microphone. HP laptops also have Lightscribe writer meaning you can print your own background on CDs, no paper need its all printed on the CD. Hope this information will help you out.

i'm in college and i bought my first laptop like the beginning of last semester. if you are use to Mac, you can continue with Mac. however, I perfer to use Windows and sometimes teachers are more familiar with Windows to have you work in that. So...if you're looking to buy something other than a mac, i'd say go with Dell. I've heard HP having problems with their laptops lately. I heard Toshiba's top of the line in laptops right now, BUT, if you're not sure what you want, just customize one at Dell.com. That's what I did, i put exactly what i wanted into that laptop...such as a 9 cell battery rather than a 6 so it lasts longer, more memory, etc. try www.dell.com and if that doesn't satisfy you, just check out the main stores like Circuit City or Bestbuy. good luck!

A Mac is by far better than a PC. Come on, what kind of question is this? Let Dad educate you, honey.
With a Mac, you get a massive CPU of 2.4GHz. Yes, that's right. Your eyes can't believe it, eh? It's call a Mac. What do do you expect?
So the PC boyz keep saying their PCs don't lack nothing. Pssh, Mac doesn't lack nothing, either, because you can install Windows on a Mac, too. You have best of both world.
Have you heard of the latest Macbook Pro? Visit here to learn more. http://www.apple.com/
The new Mac has a very, very, very powerful GPU that nothing can't stop.
Virus? Every time you download something you got to scan for virsues. You got to reformat. You got to cry, because your 10.000 songs are automatically deleted by virsues... This doesn't happen with a Mac. Once you go Mac, it watches your Back.
Get your Mac now and stop thinking which is better.
You just heard from Dad

Macintosh or Apple computers, such as the MacBook, are great for schoolwork. You can use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint. You can also edit music and video, and it comes with a built-in webcam so it makes it easy to take pictures of yourself or stay connected with family and friends with a webcam instant message. Its also extremely easy to set up a network so you can connect to the internet and print wirelessly. It's interface is also more user-friendly than a Windows-based computer such as a Dell, Gateway, and IBM. I also make ringtones for my cellphone on my iBook and then use bluetooth to wirelessly sync the new file to my Motorola Phone.
the website for apple is: www.apple.com
