Sounds crazy, but today I was thinking to myself, what if there were giant human eating birds that just ate anytrhing they saw. Could we live with them on earth or would we have no choice but to make them extinct. I mean would we have to kill them all for our safety or could we make some kind of reserves? Or, maybe we could cut there talons off? I don't know you tell me.

Okay thanks for the answers but we have technology a fighter jet will kill these guys. we dont have to accept them I want to know if we would have to wipe them out. It's our choice. They'd be like 20 feet long 90 foot wingspan. None of this natural law of the jungle jazz. I want to know if we just extinct them or what?

With all the lastest technologies and stuff, i would put a rope around their neck and fly them, and kill the ones that will eat people. Im sure they must have personalities, they can't all be bad right?......But what would we feed them......... hmmm on second thought they might all have to be killed.

We could still live with them. Think about the fact that human beings eat many other species, but those species are not extinct. Humans have hunted some species to extinction, but those were mostly sport species rather than food species. In the wild, there are many examples of species that are not extinct despite serving as food for other species. So if humans were food for a species of giant bird, we would not necessarily be driven to extinction by them. However, it would probably behoove us to destroy the birds, simply because we wouldn't want any other humans to be devoured.

The fact that we would both exist at the same time in the same place indicates that a predator-prey interaction and equilibrium has been reached. We would have to tolerate the presence of a natural apex predator above ourselves in the food web.

Though, given what we have done to most large predators, many of which posed a threat but did not generally predate us, outlook does not look for the bird.

But honestly, this is your hypothetical situation, can't you hypothesise a solution one way or another?

yes we could live with them side by side as a sort of food supply .there are so many people these birds would be wellfed for years to come
what they need would be a predator to control their numbers
like some people could be sick and be poisenous to them .
or an even bigger eagle type super giant bird

Why do i sometimes get the feeling here in answers that i have left the planet or my sanity

We would have to find a way, to contain them, or mater mind, their extinction. It may sound cruel, but how else, would we be able, to control the situation? Nevertheless, it reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's movie, "The Birds." The only difference, is they did not eat people. They terrorized and attacked, but didn't feast, on anyone. They held virtually, the entire city hostage, but didn't devour, anyone.

Maybe. We would probably eat them though, more than they ate us. Especially if they were big. Instead of turkeys for Thanksgiving we would have a big human eating bird on the table.
