He can't take him away without showing you to be unfit and there's no indication that he wants the child anyway. He's probably trying to evade his responsibility to support the child financially. Until you get some kind of notice of a court hearing, you don't need to worry--he's probably just "blowing smoke."

Have you signed any documents for his parents or did you give them verbal permission to visit? If you have any worry, it is that they are manipulating their son to get custody for themselves, since they are the only relatives who have shown any interest in the child.

If you do get a summons before you've had time to find an attorney and prepare your case, the judge will grant a continuance, if you ask for one, so that you can get ready.

Get a case together. If he wants the kid he is going to run your name through the mud. The case will be based on character. Just state....several times that you have raised this child on your own with no help from him. Try to bring up anything about him that is harmful to a child.....and prepare to defend yourself cuz he is going to do the same. If you smoke quit...if you drink quit. If he does any of those, than shout that to the judge. This is your kid; fight for him! Best of luck!

You have provided and nurtured this little boy since birth.....on your own you have no need to worry about losing him. I have no clue as to tell you what the father is up to, but rest assured the baby will come home with you, just be prepared for anything and keep your emotional levels steady and calm.

As long as everything that you said in the descripition is true and you havent done anything bad then you have nothing bad to worry about. Now if you have something to hide then I can see problems. But as long as you are a good mother which I am sure you are, he is probably just bluffing.

First ask yourself is there is a reason you should worry.
This of course is related to lifestyle. If you are straight, drug free, financially and emotionally stable, there is nothing for you to worry about. Courts don't take children from MOTHERS on the whim of fathers.

You should hire a lawyer.

So ... Hire a lawyer, take discovery before going to court, and there won't be any surprises. Why are you doing this alone?

Was he hateful about it or was he excited?? I would say it might be money because you supported him and he hasnt been around to help you out...if it was hateful maybe he is wanting custody...but i wouldnt think that would be it...but you have nothing to worry about anyway...he hasnt been there so doubtfully they will grant it.

If you are doing right by your baby and support him,it takes a lot to take a baby from his mother.

WOW that can be anything...trust me. If you moved out of state he can force you to move back. Could be he is going to go for custody...but he has to prove you unfit to raise your child...sorry to worry you but it could be anything...hope you have an attorney/

wow... it depends on his tone when he said he has surprise in court for you...
if the tone he used sounds threatening, i think you have to have ways to prove that you have the ability to take custody of your kid than him.
if the tone he used sounds fine and non-threatening, he probably may be hinting you that he would not fight for custody with you for the kid.
