My 2000 Neon has a broken wire that looks like it goes from the wheel well to a bracket on the hub in the front. It is a black coated heavy gauge steel wire, not copper. Doesn't look like it goes anywhere but it is broken and I want to know what the hell it is. The paper tag on it has a part number "04794264AB" with the following numbers under it "61789". Anyone know what it's for?

My car doesn't have ABS and it has the wire on both sides. It has no problems at the moment and there are no idiot lights coming on. Just wondering what it is.

Its probably the wire for antilock brakes. You may not have antilock brakes but Chrysler installs the wire anyway.
Turn your car on but don't start it. If you do not see a ABS light in the instrument cluster, you don't have antilock brakes.
