During WWII, what problems did the allies have? and how did they turn the tide?

For the US specifically, supplies and resources (copper, lead, various foodstuffs) led to rationing from 1941-1944. The Brits' main concerns were from within their own people, support for war didn't come until after the Normandy invasion. London was bombed some 10000 times during the course of the war. The tide in Europe turned because the Axis threw so many resources into invading Russia and were stopped cold(literally) in Leningrad and 30 miles from Moscow. The war in the Pacific began to turn after the battle of Midway. The Japanese had underestimated the ability of the US Navy to rebuild so quickly.
