Is the name Scarlett too over the top? What do people think about it? Please, something other than "Gone With the Wind" comments.

i think scarlett is just fine
scarlett, being a shade of red, is passionate, fiery, fierce and the child could be just the same

Lucky for you, I've never seen Gone With the Wind :-D
I think Scarlett is a beautiful name for a girl. And with some of the names out there, it's FOR SURE not over the top. If you're comfortable with the name, and YOU don't feel it's too over the top, your baby will love you for giving her a name that you adore! What middle names are you considering? The options with a first name like Scarlett are endless. Good luck! And congrats!

I find it to be a beautiful name. My friends sister just had a set of twins 6 months ago and the little girl was named Scarlett. They named the little boy Nolan. I don't think of Gone with the wind when I ask my daughters about the name Scarlett they say Scarlett Johanson. I think is how it is spelled. What are you thinking of for a middle name.

No way, this is my favorite girl name. Has been for years. But, when I started to like it is was not very known. But, it has been popping up recently probably because of the actress Scarlett Johansson. It was gone from about 400 to 200- something on the top baby names.
Lovely choice.

Scarlett is a good old fashioned name. I think if it was me, I'd use Scarlett as first name then probably call teh baby by their middle name. Personally, I wouldn't name my baby Scarlett. The only association that comes to mind is "Gone with the Wind".

Scarlett is a very pretty name. I have a character in a story I'm writing her name is Scarlett Megan that's her first and middle name.

Nice. I don't think of "Gone With the Wind." However, Scarlett Johannson, or "Scarlet Letter."

I love it! It's a very strong name. I think if you really love it, then use it!
For me personally, I don't think I can name my future daughter Scarlett...just a bit too much for me...but I have nothing but envy for those who use this name!
