i looovvvveeedddd the 3rd movie... can I just say, they made Orlando Bloom so friggin hott :) the outcome of his character was a little sad, but I read on IMDB that a scene explaining his situation was cut out....
Davy Jones was supposed to ferry dead people for 10 years and come back to Calypso (spelling??) well, since she didn't wait for him, he was forced to continue his service.... so now, Will is the captain of the Flying Dutchman and after 10 years, Elizabeth waited for him, so he should be able to return to land.
Did you stay for the extra scene? It was sweet ;)

After seeing it the first time, I left the theatre feeling robbed!! But I didn't stay for the end of the credits. I went to see it again, and stayed (much to the dismay of the chicks with the brooms wanting us to move so they could sweep), and I feel a little better. I almost feel that if there is a part 4, they will focus solely on Jack and Barbossa(that's my maiden name, I about crapped when I heard it in part I). The end of part 3 kinda wraps up the Elisabeth-Will thing in a way that they may not need to go on with the characters, it just will be the way it is.

I saw it. I liked it better than the second movie, but still like the first movie best.
The future of Will probably depends most on whether Orlando Bloom wants to continue in the role. I do think they could keep him going as the successor to Davy Jones or resurrect him as they did Jack Sparrow, but quite a bit of the future, if there are more movies, will rest on the lovely shoulders of Kiera Knightley, a.k.a. Elizabeth Swann, who has grown as an actress in this series, and who had a very large role in POTC III.
I also think Johnny Depp can pretty much decide whether there are any more movies. It's been a great vehicle for him, so I don't see why not.
If there is a fourth movie I would expect to see an even bigger role for Elizabeth. I don't think she'll be romantic with Jack, but will continue her love for Will, even in an afterlife.
Remember, in this series, dead isn't really dead. Barbosa, Jack Sparrow, and several others have already been dead.

The first movie was the best by far. The third was okay. I think it provided decent closure to the trilogy. The actors said that they would consider making a fourth movie in the future. I agree that Will's outcome wasn't the best, but I kind of liked it. He was a real pirate and Jack actually showed that he cared by allowing Will to stab the heart so that he could live. Sure, it wasn't the best circumstances for Will, but it could have been worse. After the credits, it showed Elizabeth with their son waiting for Will to return ten years later.

I saw it yesterday. I'm not much of a movie fan (short attention span) but it kept me interested the whole time. I loved it. (orlando bloom and johnny depp can make any movie wonderful) Yea i hated the outcome of will and elizabeth. I wish they could have been together but at least he's not dead, dead. I didn't see the credits tho. There was a couple that stayed and watched the credits when everyone was gone. I was wondering what they were up to.

While I liked the #2, I thought the last one was just lame. I really wish I could have the three hours of my life back to do something else with. I likely won't go see any more of these. It looks like they've run out of plot. The last one really had no story to it. It seemed to be aimed at 10 year olds.

First, I loved it.
Others have already explained what the last scene is, however there is much left out (cut scenes). Ted & Terry, the writers for the scipt, have explained what exactly happens. You can read their answers on:

As to a 4th? We can only hope. They did establish a possible scenario - The Search for the Fountain of Youth.
