Rumor has it that in addition to the possibility of a 4 door car, they are also considering giving a 2+2 platform a shot. That means 2 seats in front and 2 seats in back. How they will accomplish that I don't quite understand, seeing as how it is a rear engine mounted car. Just another Porsche secret I suppose. You could also look at a Cayenne... An SUV with the Porsche name, I'm not a fan of it but they must sell for a reason. I'm assuming the twin turbo model must be fun, for almost $100K it had better be. However I'm doubting that the $50K base model does a Porsche SPORTS CAR enthusiast any justice on the open road or the winding slopes.

They have the Porsche Cayenne which is an SUV and its a nice car. It was a little less than 60k. Its what I drive. And they are coming out with a Porsche Panamera in 2009. Don't know the price on it. Its more of a family type sedan but still looks pretty nice. And some of the sport cars like the Cayman and the 911 have a small back seat but none are under 50k.

Among the current offerings, only the Boxster and Cayman are 2 seaters, with the Carrera being a 2+2, and the Cayenne fo course being a four door with a hatch.

If you are looking to regularly seat four people, then the Cayenne is really the only option Porsche is currently offering. If you are simply looking for utility space for things like a few bags of groceries, golf clubs, small children, or the occasional adult passenger, then the Carrera will work fine.

As has been mentioned, Porsche is planning to release a 4 door sedan in the coming years, though rumors on cost make it likely that it will be quite awhile after it's first release that used examples will filter down to the $50k range.
