I am going to MU this week and we are staying in dorms. I have never seen a dorm. What are they like? What's in them? Is it just two beds? Also, I'm not sure if I should bring a bed set (like sheets and a cover) or just like 3 or 4 blankets. I really appreciate the help.

Small. Especially if you've never seen one before, it's going to seem really small. But moving past that. Most have 2 beds, 2 dressers, 2 closets, and 2 desks. If you're lucky, you won't have to use a community bathroom/shower down the hall, you'll have one in your room. I'd definitely bring the bed set. It's going to be a bed frame with a mattress on it. They usually lack support, so if you have a bad back, or a comfy bed at home, you may want to consider bringing a sleeping bag or foam egg crate to put under your fitted sheet. Most dorms have it where you can control your own air/heat, so temperature shouldn't be a problem. Dorms honestly aren't that bad, it's just like a very basic hotel room. Oh yeah, a lot also have a microwave/mini fridge, but that's not always the case. I'm sure you could call/e-mail the school to find out more. One final word of advice: bring a can of lysol in case you get a less than perfectly clean room, and bring slippers/ flip flops in case the floor is nasty. :)

I am not sure from your question whether you are moving to Mizzou or just staying there for a weekend. If you are moving, the school has a list of what you should bring to the dorms and here it is:
http://reslife.missouri.edu/movintomizzou/room.html
If you are not moving there, but just visiting there, and you have not been told that you'll have a bed to sleep in, then bring a sleeping bag and whatever else from the list you think you might need.
A dorm is usually a tiny tiny space with 2 twin beds. Parents think it looks like a penitentiary. Kids think it looks like fun. Have fun!

It really depends on the dorm. For sure there will be beds (probably two) and there may even be desks, clothes dressers, etc. It sounds like you're just visiting and not actually moving to college . . . ? If you're moving there as a student, the fun part is to organize your stuff (with your roommate's) into such a small space and have it work.
While this is not representative of EVERY dorm, it's a common example of them. You can click on this link for a virtual tour of one (they're kind of plain looking without decorations, etc.) http://www.uwec.edu/housing/ResidenceHalls/Takeatour/Bridgman/room.htm
Good luck.

they're small. some have two beds, some have more. at my school, dorms have anywhere from 1-6 beds in them. as far as bringing sheets, you will probably have to ask your school. when you live in a dorm, you have to bring your own sheets. but if you're just staying there for a few days (like for orientation), they usually provide them for you.

Everything you needed to be close by to your classes. It is small enough of one room to share with a stranger at first. Definitely not a home-yours anyway.
