How come the news media spends a lot of time focusing on stupid, random, irrelevant topics when there is a war going on and thousands of people are getting murdered every day? Should we spend less time being involved in Paris Hilton's life and more on the decisive issues like Iraq and the World Economy?

The Media is caught between two "masters"; the American Public- that prefers Entertainment over Information; and the Business World- whose advertizing $$$s pay Media's bills. Media really TRIES to walk the "straight & narrow path" of Independence between the two often opposing powers... -But as long as Americans are more interested in what goes on in Hollywood than what's going on in Iraq- the Media has little choice but to follow the "ratings" & affairs of the likes of Paris Hilton. For SHAME on us all. :(

Yes. I am getting so sick or Paris Hilton. She has been on the news lately 24 hours a day. Although I do think our news media is screwed up, I think the majority of this country is stupid and actually enjoys the latest gossip about Hilton.

There are three reasons for this:
1) Ratings bring ad revenue!
