A friend of mine shot himself last night, and I've thinking constantly how he could do that. I can't come up with anything that would make me want to end my life. For me, I have the desire to move forward, build friendships, marry someone and have a family.

buatista gurl, there's always a reason to live, if not for the sole purpose of making someone else's life better. Don't be selfish, suicide is a very very selfish thing to do. I promise there's a reason for you to live.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. He must have been very troubled. For myself, I almost died 5 years ago from two Doctors not getting together on my medicines and I had a bad reaction. My husband came home from work to find me barely alive. Some don't believe in this but I saw and felt something what some people might call the "light" but I knew it wasn't my time.
I love my family and friends and that is what strives me to live. Ever since that day, I put myself under the care of Doctors that work together.
I appreciate your desire to do the things you expressed. I admire anyone who feels life is worth living - good or bad.
Good luck to you and I hope your dreams come true someday.

My daughter is my driving force.
There could be any number of things that could make a person want to end their life. Depression, an inability to control certain things, a breakup, a death in the family, etc.
My granmother had 3 of her children die when they were still young. And her husband died the day before her last was born. She says if it wasnt for all the other children (9 of em!), she probly would have just ended it all because going through the death of her husband and 3 of her children was so hard for her.

So sorry to hear that! It is unfortunate to lose a life on stupidity!!! There are people fighting for their lives every day and others who are perfectly healthy end theirs.
Life is very precious. We are extremely lucky to be alive and to be able to live healthy and comfortably. I have also experienced the true meaning of life - I married the LOVE of my life and together we have experienced the true miracle of life twice, by receiving 2 beautiful little girls who make every second matter!!!
Life is too short we should enjoy each day fully and completely!

I'm so sorry for your friend and you, and his family.

That gets me thinking, exactly what you said. Why kill yourself if you're unhappy, even for a day, maybe longer, maybe shorter. You know that there is always someone there for you to help you through hard times, and you know that you have god, and friends, and family to look for, for help. You could move on and get out of your unhappiness and exactly what you said, build new friendships, get married, and have a family.
If I'm ever upset I just think that the future will be better.

Again, I'm sorry about your friend. =]

The drive to live comes from above and that is God and that is love. We can never give up hope even when times are dark. Reach for the light and keep moving.

Some people have trouble finding reasons to live. It's as if there is a fog obscuring their view of reality and distorting it. I live in order to learn, enjoy simple things, build an investment portfolio, teach people, spirituality, etc.

I understand why people do that as I have wanted to most my life, but now I am a mom. I am important to someone. I am loved by someone. I am a mom and that alone makes life worth living.
BTW sorry for your loss
