President Jefferson and nation were relieved when France resecured Louisiana from Spain in 1800, for Americans would again have shipping rights through New Orleans, a better chance for western expansion, and a friendly neighbor along their western border.
True or False?

I think it's false, coz after the French recontrol of Louisiana from Spain in 1800, American was worried about that France would limited the western trade and be a potentially threat.SO,IT'S NOT "Relieved"

Here is one Your History Books and fans of Thomas Jefferson won't tell you. Thomas Jefferson LOVED the French, his favorite place other than Virginia was Paris. Why PAY France for the Lousiana Territory? Why not simply seize it and say "hey try getting your ponderous b+tt across the Atlantic." Why? Because it was a great scam, channel millions of American Dollars to Pals in France. Jefferson left lots of debts in Paris when he returned to America do you think anyone tried to collect them after the Purchase?

And another thing - - -what about the Natives who were living in the region? Did they have a say in the matter? And no America wasn't worried that the French would be a threat - - - pretty much anyone alive in 1800 could see that France was hard pressed to hiold on to its European conquests, to send forces across the Atlantic to shore up their Empire was impossible. France couldn't even keep its Caribbean territory from attacked & internal revolt.

The Louisiana Purchase was graft on a large scale ;; against American tax payers who would have gladly seized the territory without a treaty with the French or the Spanish as was evidenced with the later conquest of Texas and the American Southwest.

Peace.....

False Jefferson would have considered it advantageous for France to resecure New Orleans.I say that because of the deal made in the Louisiana Purchase which Jefferson made with Napoleon whom he knew was desperate for cash to fund the Napoleonic wars. I cannot say that France would be considered a friendly neighbor as well but a more convenient neighbor than Spaon who still had Mexico in their grasp at the time and obtaining rights to the port of New orleans would have given the Spanish a strategic stronghold not only in the Gulf of Mexico but also affect American trade on the Mississippi River and its delta. By eliminating the French presence in North America it did in this case relieve America by getting rid of a potential threat greater than Spain and opened up the frontier area for the US to expand its western frontier.

The Louisiana Purchase was made by Thomas Jefferson during the time Napoleon was fighting a war in Europe. Napoleon was short on cash and decided that he would offer to sell America their colonial territory in North America.

If I remember correctly, Napoleon wanted to keep New Orleans since it was a great shipping port. However, Jefferson was only willing to make the purchase if Napoleon would include New Orleans in the deal. Since Napoleon was desperate at the time, he went ahead and made the deal.

The deal relieved the competition with France, because France gave up all their territorial possesion within North America during this time period with the purchase. So, they could expand rightfully, have control of the Mississippi, and New Orleans.

I believe the answer would be False, because France really did not really want to give up the shipping rights along the Mississippi and the port of New Orleans. However, Jefferson made the purcahse as a means of securing the rights for trading. It would be relieved only after the purchase.
