I recently got a new air handler installed, but my outside compressor is still the same. I noticed that the AC has cut off a couple times before my set temperature was met. Although it turned off, when I came back home it was on again. This has happend a couple times. The thermastat was not replaced. Is there any reason the system would keep cutting off without reaching the temp?

the most likely cause of this is that your thermostat is bad or it needs to be recalibrated....place a thermonmeter next to it and observe the temperature the thermomonmeter shows against what the thermostat shows....if the thermostat is very old this will be the most likely problem....no part of the outside unit controls whether the inside unit contuines to blow air or call for cooling...if there was a problem with the compressor it would shut off but air handler would contuine to run...

The indoor unit may not be compatible with the outdoor unit. Did the installer check the balance of the system?

The compressor needs a certain amount of freon flowing to cool it off as it runs. If the new evaporator coil restricting valve is undersized, the compressor will not be getting the cooling and overheat and turn itself off. This scenario will also occur if there is not enough freon in the system. Did the installer leave any notes behind, such as the pressure/temperature figures of the freon? Have you contacted the installer and let them know what is going on? They need to come out and take another look. If your conditioned space is not reaching the set point, the system is not functioning properly for some reason. It needs to be investigated before the outdoor unit fails.

It seems such as you have extra desirable than a thermostat difficulty. extremely isn't difficulty-free to tell without being there.advise you hire a professional heating enterprise to seem into it. does not look probable that it is the thermostat if the single you replace replaced into working fantastic faster or later. If it by no potential has worked then could desire to ok be thermostat.
