Ok, since i was a kid, i have been dreaming of going to the us naval academy and becoming a naval officer...

I'm a sophomore in high school...taking all AP/IB classes...
- I have gotten straight A's thru-out high school. (~4.15 gpa)
- lettered in three varsity sports freshman year and this year (football, indoor track, and tennis)
- formed the cancer awareness club in school
-Siemens Westinghouse National Science Scholarship
-nat'l honor society member
-class president since freshman year
-nat'l honor society president
-eagle scout
-I have a sectional ranking in tennis...top 20 in state
-have a job,
-volunteered a lot (have accumulated over 150 hours, since 8th grade)
- IB diploma candidate

HOWEVER, i got expelled from my old high school after freshman year for something stupid..(not serious, like assault, weapons, drugs,or anything)

Honestly, do i have a chance at getting into the US Naval Academy; provided I have decent SAT scores, and continue w/ sports...

thanks for your time!

Well, everything about your package is incredible. And without this little 'expelling' thing, you would be a shoe-in at any college you applied to. But you need to take a look at whatever it was you were expelled for and realize that it can affect your chances if you don't address it in your college application. There are things that you might not consider serious but a college might. Without knowing those circumstances, it might be hard to help. But let me give you a scenario...

If you got kicked out of your other high school for cheating or plagiarizing (a VERY serious matter, not one to be undertoned with 'not serious'), it might be to your benefit as class president to start a program on cheating education. You can teach why cheating/plagiarization is wrong and how it can be avoided. Offer to speak about your experience dealing with it and you now have something to tell the colleges about your learning experience with your mistake. But again, without knowing what the reasons were behind it, you're going to have to think of that on your own.

If these qualifications you list are true, then you would be a good candidate except for the expelling thing. The Service academies are very big on a little thing called "Honor." If you cheated or did anything that was in any way dishonorable, then forget about the academies.

You must be appointed to the Academies by your Congressman. So, you need to talk to the office of your Congressman.... it is a tough problem - you must tell them honestly exactly what happened. If they judge it dishonorable then you are headed for Navy ROTC at the state university.

You need to do two things. First, get some references together - people who can vouch that you've learned from your mistake and are not likely to repeat that mistake. You're very active and involved, so those things will go a long way. If you have a blemish on your character (and that is a concern at the academy), then you need to gather proof that's not an issue.

The next step is to contact the academy and speak frankly with them about your situation and your desire to enroll. They're looking for exceptional students, and someone who steps up and shows not only initiative but concern for his future is that type of individual.

Good luck!

In all honesty, it relies upon on what the reason replaced into for expelled on your previous college. i could think of if it wasn't that undesirable, the army could seem in any respect your positives extremely than that one destructive. in case you're curious, you are able to desire to constantly call a army recruitment center and ask them. they could supply you their honest evaluations and show you how to comprehend in case you may desire to do the rest until eventually now employing. solid success!!
