Won't hurt it but this is a perfect example of why you need to get the owners manual for your car and read it.

Over Drive Should Be On Pretty Much All Time Unless Your Towing It's Not Hurting It.. It's Good For It... It Will Not Kick In Till About 40 Miles An Hour! You Should Feel One Last Shift Around 30 To 40 Miles An Hour That's Overdrive Gear

Relax, all is well. Your car's automatic transmission will selct the proper gear for you. It will only go into overdrive when it is called for, mostly at speeds above 40mph.

This is all normal and correct. Leave it in D or drive and the O/D left on. Good luck with the driving and be safe.

is not going to hurt it none, but its a better idea to only use this on the highway ,or on a stretch of road that you can drive on without using the brakes a lot its designed to save gas,and it works pretty well, but it wont kill the car if its on in the city either, the transmission shift by signals from the computer,so if its left in overdrive it will only go in the gear it needs to be in according to the speed of the vehicle, good luck with it.,,PS and don't get caught driving it,its too much of a fine to pay .
