OK
so... pretty much. I am a bit like u. I LOVE NEW music. but what i do, is i go to these sites.
http://www.artistdirect.com/
http://music.aol.com/
i also just browse around on myspace music on like the index thing and look at bands who i think might interest me.
Those sites are really good and i recomend that you browse around them. there are so many different styles of music including the ones that you outlined and are updated quite regularly. They will make you look like you have the step up on everyone else as you find the songs like "Sexy Back" or "London Brige" and "Give It Up To Me" or "Show Me The Money" three or four months before everyone else does.
The sites will probably let you figure out what styles you like best and therefore you can select those certain categories...
I hope this helps.
Hopefully you might be able to answer my question(s) in the future. :)

hahaha.....typical Fonzie style....classic tunes, great selection
I typically raid my friends' collections, borrowing CDs, asking for recommendations. I also use iTunes & AOL music since they recommend similar artists. My collection.......all 900 cds or so has taken years to accumulate........its all about being open and experimental.......that's how I amassed my library
