One of my mentors.
He had his spinal cord crushed in a work accident when he was 22 years old.
He wasn't suppose to live.
He lost the use of his legs and most of the use of his arms.
He went from being an athlete to being in a hospital bed for 6 months on his back.
He married his nurse.
He got his CPA.
He owned his own business.
He became the CFO of my corporation.
He's visited every continent and traveled the world.
He has two kids and both graduated from Notre Dame.
He drives a custom van designed for him so he can be independent.
He told me a few years ago when we were talking about goals:
I can't walk, I'll never run again, my wife has to help me shower, but I can literally do anything else I want to. I'm not wasting time on the things I can't do..

Everybody's brilliant in some way or another.
It's simply a matter of figuring out just which way that is.
Some people have high IQ's, others have excellent street smarts. Some are gifted at math; others, in art.
I always thought my grandfather was pretty brilliant, but I think a lot of that came from life experience.

A little old lady, who was not book smart, had a fourth grade education, but she was full of wisdom and support, and despite being 82 shes a spunky rebellious woman who protected me when others (*cough*my parents*cough*) would beat me and make me cry. She never met my parents but she empowered me with the wisdom and love to protect myself. This little old lady is my best friends Grandma.

He replaced right into a student instructor I had in severe college....He replaced into in basic terms 27, yet his point of existence journey and the failings he taught us made it look as though he'd been around an entire life.
