it is a fact, the death penalty saves up to 14 innocent people per execution...the independant studies are in...now when people argue they do not want to take the chance of executing an innocent person, ask if they want to take the chance of executing 14 innocents..
these studies were also reported by anti death penality scientists..they admitted they were not happy with the results, but the truth needs to be known!

for those who are demanding my sources, the article was an assiciated press article..Naci Mocan, an economics professor at the University of Colorado at Denver. "The conclusion is there is a deterrent effective"
The studies' conclusions drew a philosophical response from a well-known liberal law professor, University of Chicago's Cass Sunstein. A critic of the death penalty, in 2005 he co-authored a paper titled "Is capital punishment morally required?"
"If it's the case that executing murderers prevents the execution of innocents by murderers, then the moral evaluation is not simple," he told The Associated Press. "Abolitionists or others, like me, who are skeptical about the death penalty haven't given adequate consideration to the possibility that innocent life is saved by the death penalty."
like i said, this was an AP report that came out 40 minutes ago,,

all i can say is read the study before accusing it of being politically biased...it is not..also why do all you liberals always add personal attacks in your responses...maybe it's just your education level..

Your source? What you say is not true and every survey ever done supports the opposite of what you claim. Have you notices that countries who do not have the death penalty have far less crime and very few murders? Murder is murder whether the government is doing it or an individual is doing it.
Also, with our judicial system of prosecutors forcing people to lie under oath many many innocent people are convicted. Have you noticed how many people have been let out of prison lately since DNA has proven them innocent? Also, why is the government in most states fighting to prevent prisoners from having DNA tests done?

The studies referred to in the AP article are seriously flawed.
The recent studies you refer to are not supported by most scholars in the field. There were problems with the way these studies were done, with the data used and more.
Unless you are a statistician or a mathematician (as I am) the studies are hard to follow. Easiest to understand, however, is the fact that homicide rates are consistently higher in states and nations with death penalty than in those without it.
I recommend you check out the sources I have listed.

Studies? You mean more then one study was done?
Where are these studies and who paid for them?
Anti-death penalty scientists? What planet are you from?
.
This is a joke right?
.
It's like saying that more crime will be committed if everyone paints their house white.
.
Crime statistics go up and down constantly, but one constant has been the correlation between crime and the economy.
.
The death penalty is famous in Texas yet the homicide rate in Texas continues to rise.
Why?
Maybe because the population in Texas is also rising?
.
Historically speaking,, despite what some politicians say, the death penalty has nothing to do with deterring crime.

Really? Then WHY are the lines on death rows getting longer at the same time the homicide rate in this Country continues to rise? When someone is out to kill someone- they're not thinking about the consequences to themselves, they just want to kill. One way or the other- the "Innocents" end up dead. The Death Penalty serves NO PURPOSE short of lining lawyers pockets & making politicians reputations. If Society can kill murderers as methodically as murderers can kill innocent people- then Society is JUST as guilty of acting out of malice. Revenge NEVER ends...-It just goes on killing.

Well, what this makes me wonder is: if europe has virtually no murders, and no death penalty, how can this study be true?
Or, are there other ways to deter murders? Other better ways? Since we do execute, we do have a huge murder rate, and we do execute innocent people.
Just wondering.

because of the fact it extremely is impossible to quantify what did no longer ensue, it is no longer achieveable to quantify what proportion murders did no longer occurr as a results of Capital Punishment. upload interior the actuality that even in States that declare to have Capital Punishment many have not accomplished human beings for some years subsequently diluting the consequence of the deterrent. So, we could desire to seem to a minimum of a few thing extra significant. to try this I cite the case of Colin Ferguson, the shooter interior the long island Rail highway bloodbath. Mr. Fuerguson, a Black guy, desperate to board a LIRR commuter prepare in 1993 with the point of killing as many white human beings as achieveable because of the fact he hated white human beings. He replaced into ultimately subdued by potential of passengers after shooting 25 human beings, killing 6 of them. residing interior the extra desirable ny area on the time, I undergo in suggestions the case ok. To my element, after being arrested, Fuerguson replaced into being held in a brand ny detention center. mutually as in his cellular information got here out that the ny splendid courtroom had reinstated the dying Penalty. Fuerguson replaced into no longer eligible for Capital Punishment because of the fact his crimes have been devoted until eventually now the ruling yet he did no longer comprehend that. properly, he broke down right into a sobbing, begging mess in his cellular. He replaced into so distraught that he replaced into inconsolable. His jailers tried to describe to him that he replaced into no longer eligible for the dying Penalty yet he refused to have faith them. He replaced right into a blubbering mess until eventually they ultimately have been given his legal professional there to cajole him that he could desire to no longer be positioned to dying. Now, I ask you. If this fool replaced into that frightend to be positioned to dying, do you think of he could have shot all those human beings if the dying Penalty have been reinstated an afternoon in the past? there's no thank you to comprehend what proportion different Colin Fergusons there are who did no longer circulate on a rampage because of the fact of worry of the dying Penalty. yet Colin Ferguson is evidence effective that a minimum of 6 deaths and 19 extreme woundings could have been prevented. *

Yes, sure. If you overlook the multitude of other studies showing the opposite.
And if you assume deterence is the only reason people oppose the death penalty.
Otherwise, no.
