i hope your right, but remember who won the last two elections without even winning the popular vote;
the elections are skewed, if you know how to win them
Republicans have alot of $$$; it's unfortunate.
I just hope the democrats come together, join the right combination and stay in power

For those of you with short memories, I draw your attention back to 1974. The Republican party was in disarray following the near impeachment of Richard Nixon. Democrats trounced Republicans in the Congressional elections.
Two years later, the tide had moderated a little bit. Jimmy Carter barely won the presidential election.
Four years later Ronald Reagan was elected.
In politics, time frames are very short. People do not pay that much attention to what you did two years ago, or four years ago, or six years ago.
Yes, George Bush and Karl Rove have done great damage to the Republican party. Given the present divisions in the Republican party, a large number of solid Republicans may choose to vote for a third party or not vote in '08.
Given time, however, the Republican party will reunite (maybe with some of its current factions having gone their own way but with new factions replacing them or maybe with all of the current factions intact). Likewise, over time, the Democratic party will make mistakes of its own.
Its unlikely that any party will dominate for any length of time. This country is just too closely divided. While the Republicans are probably not going to win in 2008, no rational person would make any predictions about 2012 or later.

They haven't lost anything yet. The Republican party still has one big thing going for it - People want to keep as much of their own paycheck as possible. The Democrats are going to have to find a platform that isn't about socialist policies to win.
Currently, if people are paying attention they will notice that in 20 years - every person paying into SS will be supporting 6 people receiving SS. That is all the tax increase our economy will ever be able to bear.
When "Joe Middleclass" wakes up to an income tax rate scale like Canada has - he will scream bloody murder.
Btw, ask the Canadians who are flocking to clinics and hospitals in the northern tier states how well they like "national healthcare."

If the Democrats can't come up with better than what they have now, bad as I hate to, I will have to vote Republican. And by the way, all you people afraid of tax increases must be the rich folks that got the cuts last time. Have a lot of stock in big oil?

While I agree that 2008 is going to be easy I disagree about the 2 decades.
After the corruption and debacles of Bush Sr and Reagan - it only took a tax cut bribe to make Americans forget thier values 8 years later.

I wouldn't bet on it, kid. Maybe when you grow up you'll understand a little more about the difference between right and wrong. For now, go ahead and stick with the Democrats. It's politics for beginners. You know what they say. If you're eighteen and you're not a Democrat, you have no heart. If you're thirty eight and you're not a Republican, you have no brain.

You make a statement like that and follow it up with 'Obama '08!'
Like most libs, you have no grasp of your own perpetual self-destructiveness.
Go ahead and stand behind your icon and watch as we Republicans once again secure the White House with our backing of a man who is actually qualified.

They think they are going to steal the election again, but this time we got them covered. I like Hillary but just any Democrat running that wins will have my backing 100%. Come on Democrats show them how to win a honest election. I'll be so glad when I can turn my TV on and not have to look at old George and Dick in their cowboy boots. That Cheney in his boots remind me of OLD Dog when you look at him running after someone, you talking aout the funk flying the funk is flying for old Duane the Dog when you see his back side running behind them, WHEW IT Would Make You Short of Breath., You'd BE Grasping For Air. HUH, UH.

It's true that liberals said it the last election, but both parties say it, every time.
It's silly, its unAmerican.
Simple definition: Treating our elected officials badly by calling them names, spreading unfounded rumors, treating them as "guilty until proven innocent".
This poster does that.
He may be right/wrong about his point, but we get tired of the name-calling. I see a fellow American when I see a republican.
This person does not speak for me (I'm a democrat).
