Tiger barbs are very easy to breed. Also in the easy egg layers groups I would suggest Convict cichlids, zebra danios, pearl danios, white clouds, kribensis, and several other barb choices including gold barbs and checkerboard barbs. Bettas, most gourami and paradise fish are also quite easy to breed.

Tiger Barbs will pair up and breed if water conditions are right. Soft and slightly acid water with a temperature of about 80 degrees will encourage spawning. A spawning pair will scatter up to 200 eggs over the aquarium gravel. The parents should then be moved to prevent them from eating the eggs. The eggs hatch in about 3 days. NO ANTS!

Yes. If given good living conditions (slightly acid water with pH of about 6.5 and temperature between 74 and 79 degrees) they will pair up and spawn. They are egg scatterers and will lay many eggs all over the tank substrate. You will need to use large gravel or marbles to allow spaces for the eggs to fall into. This will protect the eggs from the parents who are notorious for eating their eggs.

Convict Cichlids are an excellent choice for egg laying fish to breed. It can be done with little effort on the part of the aquarium owner. Unlike Tiger Barbs, they do not eat their eggs but actually take care of the eggs and fry.

As Leslie suggests you have to watch them alot to a. see who the pair are, b. see when they've dropped eggs. As they're scatterers you have to be quick and take them out as soon as the deed is done, and after about 5 or 6 days the fry should be free swimming.

when I had fish years ago I couldn't get my barbs to breed and not eat the babies.I never had any luck with it but I found breeding ciclids gave me a beautiful tank with bright colors and the parents protected the babies instead of eating them.barbs are not community fish and I have been told that non community fish like barbs can be hard to produce if you don't watch them.Good luck
