Why are Thomas Jefferson and George W. Bush portrayed as "men of the people", when in fact both are elitists

Thomas Jefferson portrayed Alexander Hamilton as an elitist in the late 1700's, as George W. Bush had portrayed John Kerry as an elitist.

Of course we ALL know that Jefferson and Bush were the TRUE landed gentry elites, and pandered the ignorant, uneducated voters through "populist politics" in order to underhandedly gain the support of the majority.

I don't think I've ever heard, untill now, the name of a great American like Thomas Jefferson in the same sentence with the coked-up drunk boob, George W Bush.
Of course, Thomas Jefferson was wealthy but what seperates him from "monkeyboy" is the fact the T. J. cared about the rights of men.
Lil 'w' on the other hand has done just about as much as anyone can to destroy those same rights.
Remember before Lil 'w'. We American's had the right to court protection BEFORE the whitehouse could conduct secret wiretaps (I still don't believe our government slept while he did this). Before Lil 'w', we had Habeus Corpus, a right we were born with and George W Bush has taken from us.

His "Mafia" style cabinet filled with cronies and crooked attorneys is something that will take a long time for America to live down. His "cherrypicking" of intelligence in order to "sell " his invasion of an unarmed country (something I don't think Thomas Jefferson would consider).

The list goes on and on.

My father and grandfather were both Republicans. I am glad they're both dead so they cannot see how low their party has sunk.

A lot of angst coming from the confused left. You have to be a bit of an elitist to be elected President in the first place. It's a question of personality and attitude. Nobody pulled the wool over the public's eye, most people are just more practical than you.

Hey, didn't you ever read Jefferson's Farm Diaries? He would write, "Today, I planted 80 acres of peas." "Today, I hoed 3000 rows of tobacco." Seriously. What a hoot.

Still, Jefferson knew he was corrupted by his upbringing and yet look what he vigorously monitored himself to bring forth - religious liberty. We owe it all to him.

Plus, he spent himself deeply into debt and died penniless. Sounds like a man of the people to me.

Comparing Bush to Jefferson - now I've heard everything. I hope.

Thomas Jefferson was certainly not perfect. But he did some good for the country. Bush has done nothing good for our country and has in fact harmed it significantly. He has no redeeming qualities to balance against his evil acts.
