Hello there,
Since childhood we have been told by our parents, teachers, relatives and society about what is correct and what is not. Whatever our beliefs are, they are from our childhood. If you really want to figure out who you are, my best suggestion would be
1) Spend some alone time with yourself and see your line of thoughts.
2) Don't look outside for answers. Look inside yourself.
3) We don't live in this world... The world live in us my friend.
4) Start by discarding all your beliefs and be a child again with no prejudice or judgement...
You are a precious being... search who you are on the side. Look inside your heart because thats the last place people look when they want to identify themself. They look for others approval which is sad but true.

To figure out who you are, I think you need to do a Life Evaluation. To figure out who you are, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered from your parents, your siblings, your friends, and of course, from you. I mean, there is a perfect website for this; it's called OurStory - you can write your own private autobiography. I know you're hesitant to do this website but it's a good idea. I have an account on there and it has given me excellent insight and reflection on the life I've lived. You can tell your side of the story the way you lived it especially when they give you questions to give you ideas about what to write about. I figured out who I was when I was nineteen years old because everything seemed more clearer. If my MEMORY is Stripped away from ME, I wouldn’t be the same ME because all of what I have learned from Life is now erased. I’d have to start anew in this world where everything that is Wrong is Right and everything that is Right is Wrong therefore I wouldn’t be ME because of this. I am the type of person who has always seen the Right in every situation and lived in my OWN Personal Truth which is Right. In my opinion, MEMORY is VERY important to a person’s IDENTITY or PERSONALITY because through my Life’s Experiences, it’s taught me how to be who I am and what I stand for as a person. I might as well be walking around as a spirit or a ghost if I didn’t have it with me and the Life Lessons I’ve learned with it. Find out who you are through what you stand for, through your life experiences, and what you want from life.

You live your life. There is no age limit on growing and changing. Exploring more about life and yourself can be an ongoing process. The hardest person to get to know is yourself. I use my roots as a starting point. Where do I come from? What do I think or feel about this part of me? Could I change it? Would I change it? Change to what? Why? Our identities never fit into a nice neat little box. We can be as many things as we want at any given time. We are multi-dimensional beings and deserve the room to spread our wings and fly. Who you think you are at this moment is who you are in this moment. Change while being embraced can be used as opportunity after opportunity. How will you use yours?

That is a very intelligent thing to say. Socrates said "Know thyself." See the site below with a short article all about this with info from psychologists.
It is not about figuring it but something else and the epilogue (concluding section) of the article tells what Jet Li is doing to find this out and the great benefits of it like perfect peace.

You really don't know who you are until you test yourself or live life. You might think you are a brave person until you see a person getting mugged in a dark alley. Then you freeze. Instead of helping the victim, you are gripped with fear and runaway. Now you know if you are brave or not because you have been tested or have life experience. You are what you did. Your past is who you are. Life will unfold in front of you. You will react a certain way to life, love, humanity, emotion, tragedy, massacre, evil. Try to be who you want to be. In order to find your self, many people travel and expose themselves to many different experiences. I find helping others bring out the best in me. Being selfish brings out the worst in me.

If you don't know whow you are, then there's definitely something wrong with You.
Crazy is the term for someone who has shunned away from reality and went into His/Own state which is Dillusion.
Would You rather remain that way? or, Would You rather who you are in this world and what specifically what is the soul purpose why God gave you Your Life?

Usually when you go through some deep crises, what some call a crucible where your persona is tested to the max and every conceivable emotion is wrung out of you. Then you can make a cool assessment of what you have been through and what you are made off.

If you are serious about this than I will say that in my opinion, I don't think you will ever know "who you are." I hate it when people say..." I just need to find out who I am." To me you'll always have your morals and values and things that you believe in. But I think that as you grow older you change in lots of different ways. You become wiser and more mature with each passing day. That's just my opinion.

Ask a different question. What defines a person’s character? Our character is composed of our beliefs and habits. Some habits work without believes. In other words we do things that we do not believe in. And some beliefs can only become part of our character when one believes in them strongly and when one practices what he believes and in result his belief becomes part of his character.
