Anyone who says Joe Montana is showing their lack of respect for the history of the NFL. He was one of the best at running the 2 minute offense. If the 49ers needed a score, he almost always found a way to get it. That being said, Ryan Leaf gets my vote. A close second would be Chad Hutchinson. Everyone made a big deal out of Brady backing him up in college....

Whoever said Ted Ginn, that was one of the dumbest answers I've ever heard. He is a rookie who hasn't even played a single down. He was at camp this weekend and impressed the team by blowing the corners away while not even being 100%.
In 2 years the selection of Ginn over Quinn will not be criticized because I believe both Quinn and John Beck will be unsuccessful, while I expect Ginn to be a 700-800 yard receiver and returner. Most teams would take that.
We are talking OVERRATED. Ryan Leaf and the like do not count because they were never rated high after they actually played. Overrated pre-NFL for sure, but not while they played.
Right now I would actually have to say Roethlisberger is very overrated, Vick also was, but now people are starting to see his weaknesses. All-time is a difficult question. Joe Namath was overrated, so was Kellen Winslow. Both players were great, but they are too heavily regarded for what they actually accomplished because of specific games. Namath vs. the Colts and Winslow vs. Miami. This is so subjective and difficult to answer. Good question.

Most overrated player coming out of college was that tackle that Green Bay drafted, having trouble getting his name. He was supposedly the strongest lineman in the NFL but his footwork was so bad he almost consistently allowed sacks.
I'll update this if I can find his name.
I know I'm gonna get crap for this, but the most overrated player right now is Devin Hester. I'm not talking special teams of course, but given how many fumbles he has had their I'm not so certain he will be good on the offensive side of the ball.

Joe Montana, how many times did he throw a pass that went more than, say, fifteen yards in the air? He had two of the best receivers ever for Yards after the catch, that's the only reason he looked so good. Not to mention a great system and coach

currently For rookie I would say Ted Ginn Jr. all he actually did for OSU was special team and hes very fast. He wasnt worth the 1st round pick Dolphins got him, they could have find another WR later on. I would say TO. TO thinks the world revolves around him and the media is giving him all that attention. TO wants to be thrown to him all the time but lead the league in drop passes, he doesnt care or appreciate his teammates and coaches because he is bashing them all the time. His time is over, Dallas Cowboys shouldnt take that risk with that big contract and attitude. Remember people every QB he played with, he end up bashing them and leaving. He bashed Jeff Garcia because he thought he was gay and bashed Mcnabb because he blamed him for losing the Super Bowl and plus Eagles was McNabbs team and got more attention than TO

I'm a Cowboys fan... That being said, Terrel Owens. He may have some big plays and big games. But for every big play he has, he messes up an easy pass that should be a first down. He is also a loud mouth which doesn't help his cause. If he shut his mouth and played like a Cowboy, my answer would be different, but he won't do that.

The first poster obviously has no clue about the history of pro football...Joe Montana is the greatest QB in the history of football...I would say that Ryan Leaf and Jeff George were the most overrated players...The most overrated player currently, I have to agree with the poster below me...Peyton Manning is way overrated...He is Mr. Choke in the Playoffs up until last year, and suddenly he's going to be the best ever?...Hmmm...maybe if he wins about 4 more Super Bowls...but too bad Tom Brady is so far ahead of him and will always be better than him...

First of all, how in the world can you say Joe Montana is overrated, he won 4 super bowls and is the best ever. As far as most overrated I will have to say Ron Dayne, Heisman winner to bench warmer
