3 feet in a yard
3x3= 9 sq. feet in a square yard
in a cubic yard
3x3x3= 27 cubic feet

27 cubit feet in 1 yard in other words if your mulching or dirt figure by the yard take your total square feet and divid it by 108 witch is 27 cubbit feet and your answer will be 3x3x3 27 9x12=108 do the math

a square yard is 3feet long by 3feet wide.
so 3'x3'=9sq'

1yd = 3ft
1yd x 1yd = 1 sq. yd.

3ft x 3ft = 9 sq. ft.
