Are you professional? Not excessive makeup, jewelry, perfume? Food service doesn't like makeup at all but you can get away with some as a hostess. Brush up on your interview skills. Do you have a firm handshake? Do you maintain eye contact? Do you follow up after the interview with a note thanking them for their time?

Make sure you dress nicely for the interview. Smile a lot, appear happy and energetic and very interested in the job.
Always look at them in the eye and don't look down when you talk.
If your job requires you to work with the public, you have to convince them that you work well with the public, and don't have a short fuse or an indifferent attitude.
If you have relevant experience, talk about that.

I would add to make sure you dress professionally no matter what kind of job you are going for and limit any jokes or kidding, because you would appear to not take the job seriously enough. Good Luck!!

Find a friend or someone who is a professional manager. Do some practice interviews with them, and get their input.
