There is a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome that affects your periods and your actually having one. It causes weight gain (although I don't feel you are significantly overweight), acne, skintags...loads of different things.
Please seek help--school counselor, something--about cutting your wrists. Depression is a serious issue and can stop you from having your period as well as stress. However, if you look back historically, girls get their periods younger and younger...but not too many years ago, 16 was the norm for starting your period.

First of all--- take a deep breath. Menstruation is affected by numerous things. Weight, horomones, stress, environment, depression. If you can't get your Mom to take you to a Dr. talk to your school nurse. Call a nurse line like first call for help (the number should be in your phone book). Call the Boys and Girls Club. Most importantly talk to your Mom again and tell her your very depressed. It's important that you get some help soon. Remember that you matter and don't forget to let your voice be heard.
Good luck. I hope I have helped.

I believe that you should see a doctor. He'd be able to tell you alot more than any of us could. Keep asking your mom & hopefully she'll take you. You should also talk to someone about your depression, that may also be playing a factor in your not starting. I hope you don't cut yourself anymore, that's a dangerous game. Good luck with your new job too. I wish you well sweetie.

It's probably genetics....surely there is a friend or someone who has some the same depression issues as you do and so maybe you can start small convos with someone and eventually lead up to your cutting and depression...I started at age 10 and I've always been a lil on depressed side, but I talked to a friend who I saw do me like behavior and we started talkin one day and it really helped...both of us.....

If she's unwilling to take you to a doctor, at least ask her if there is a family history of this (did she start her period late, or did your grandmother?) Also, if she has no answers for you and absolutely won't take you (which is stupid on her part), take in the initiative and go to your local Planned Parenthood. They will take you no matter your age and regardless of income or insurance. It can also be entirely anonymous if that is something you're worried about (meaning no one has to know you were there).

you've never had a period? call the doc yourself or get another relative to help you talk to your mom. stress is usually an issue if you've already had a period and are late. you should have started by now.

Some people don't get it until they are 18. You will get it when your body is good and ready for it.
