We kept many fish over the years and we certainly counted them as pets. One goldfish started at one inch and wound up to be about ten inches. He would eat out of our hands. The following reference is for young people, but it is a great way to learn!

As Curly would say " why soitanly"! Most people keep pets to have comfort , if they can help you to relax and enjoy a few moments of your day then they have done their job. Cats, dogs, gerbils, snakes, lizards whatever helps you relax or just enjoy being around them then they would be a good pet. I have heard of doctors actually telling people to get an aquarium to help them to relax by watching the fish. So by that I guess I would qualify fish as pets but then that is just my opinion.

Well, you can't really pet them. I have a goldfish over 15 years old, I certainly consider "Spot" part of our family, but I don't actually see him as a pet. Our play time consists of me putting food flakes on the water and watching Spot go for them. Pretty low maintenance and a very sweet little fish with a gorgeous fan tail.

Nawww... I don't think so your should be okay with the fish and dogs. I have 4 snakes that I didn't count as pets when I was in an apartment. Good thing they didn't get loose. You don't have to worry about fish getting loose unless they are dog fish.

I believe that fish are pets to us the owners, but in the case of a landlord I don't think they count. They can't get out of their tanks and mess up your house...

yes because you have to take car of them and they are an animal but the reason they may not seem to be a pet like as you would view other animals is because it is harder to develope an emotional attatchment to a fish.

YES OF COURSE! Any animal in your home that you care for is considered a pet. ANY ANIMAL AT ALL!!! In example my pet is a snake from a desert.
