My neighbours 3 doors up are both 40 and have teenage kids. The lights are only on the roofing just above the porch. The lights are clear, not coloured.

It doesn't bother me if it's after Halloween, I'd expect it, but they've left them up there since last Christmas. Sad thing is, they ribbed us for having garage light decorations (huge red bells) up near the end of Jan. I had a baby on the 15th and was thinking of other things. I think it's sad, but funny too.

If the Christmas lights stay on the house too long it starts a chain reaction that is not easily reversed. First the owners of the house will all start to get that "mullet" look sometimes followed by missing teeth.

2nd the grass will undoubtedly start to be left unattended and grow to a hight often greater than two feet.

3rd miscellaneous items such as old tires, piles of wood, metal fencing, and old toilets will start to accumulate in the yard.

4th a german shepard will be purchased along with at least 4 cats.

5th a swimming pool, kid size hard shell, will be placed under the nearest tree where the art of "noodling" catfish will be practiced.

6th property values in the neighborhood will go down

7th Jeff Foxworthy will start telling jokes about your subdivision.

8th Police will begin to frequently patrol your street

9th you will be forced to move out because of the smell

Have a nice day!

No, especially as the makers now redo a lot of Christmas lights and sell them for other holidays. Like going into stores at Easter and finding pastel colored lights for Easter. Orange and purple for Halloween. Red and pink for Valentines. Red, white, and Blue for 4th of July. All green for St. Pats. Besides, look at both age of the folks in the house and some of the houses where they really go all out on the lights display.

I'd be more bothered by those who have lights that are clearly meant just for Christmas and are still lighting them in June.

My personal opinion is that anything out of season/holiday is extremely TACKY looking. I see that all over the Southern USA. It has nothing to do with religion or spirituality for me, it just looks tacky is all. I see people with Hallowe'en stuff still up at Easter, Christmas stuff up at Independance Day, etc....I think people should get off thier lazy butts and take the stuff down after that season or holiday is over. That is just how I feel about it.

i think of that when Thanksgiving is a robust time to post the lights. we've an area affiliation and that they have a lights ceremony. we've a fish fry (submit to in concepts human beings we live interior the southern hemisphere right here so that's summer season) and then all human beings flicks on their lights. nicely, they have detailed December sixteenth with the aid of fact the date to achieve this. permit me permit you recognize that did no longer bloody set nicely with me. i like to have mine up from after Thanksgiving till Epiphany (January 6th the appearance of the wisemen). the same with the tree (man made). yet i've got faith that folk ought to have the means to post their lights and revel interior the trip season considering the quantity of skill they're using to achieve this. we are able to basically positioned our lights on for specific hours.

Personally, I have a lot more of other stuff to worry about. And on the positive side, its probably safer to put them up & leave them, then to crawl around on ladders & the roof. every year we see some one who has died or is seriously injured putting up lights--its so saddening.

It doesn't bother me a bit. I figure some people are into the Christmas spirit all year long.

I moved into an apartment in August one year. In September, I was lonely one night and wanted to see Christmas lights. I went down in the storage closet, got them, and put them up. They made me feel better. what's wrong with that?

yes...the only month it doesn't bother me is september, cuz that's my birthday, and so maybe they are celebrating for me. JK hahahahhah that was a major dud. but thanks for the 2 points. I love christmas lights they are so cheery and pretty. But what bugs me is when people put them up really crooked or off centered.

Maybe they are getting geared up for Independence Day? If not, I would return the ribbing.
